We have heard the word Mumpreneur used often and we often get the image of a busy Mom running her own business and that would be correct but for so called Mumpreneur’s it means so much more than that. Mumpreneur is a word that describes a lifestyle that Mum’s develop to meet the needs not only of their family but of themselves within the working environment. All Mums find it hard going back into full time employment when children come along and this is hardly surprising but when Mums are pressed for time, they are really very good at finding a more flexible way of doing things.
Businesses owned by Mothers added 7.2 billion increase to the economy by 2014 and this is set to rise to a staggering 9.5 billion by 2025. A lot of the businesses started by Mumpreneurs are businesses started as (Work from home businesses) where they have gone from strength to strength and developed into successful Business enterprises.
Many of the work from Home businesses aim at Niche markets and mums very much draw on their experience of Mothers and some businesses are as a direct result of being a Mum whether that be an invention or more creativity. Many businesses start as Online businesses where products are sold either through an online site like Etsy or Amazon or through their own online website or Ecommerce store. Mumpreneurs often feel they have to work harder to achieve what they want for their business with many working just as many hours if not more than a full time job, the difference is that Mums will do this around their family.
Some of the popular online Businesses thriving at the moment are Arts and Crafts Materials, Jewellery and Home Ware products. The rise in Athleisure wear is also offering loads of online Business opportunities for creating new designs.
Health and Beauty Businesses are also thriving, with home made Crème’s and Soaps being some of the most favorite items to make and sell. As we enter 2017 the way we shop is helping new online business opportunities to thrive more quickly than they would have done 5 years ago. Shoppers are looking for natural products and not just from larger corporations but from smaller Niche companies which is giving everyone the chance to start their own successful business.
